Blessed Sacrament Catholic School

Surfaces: rubber, wood chips.
Of the millions of things parenting has taught me, one of the most important has to be: whatever you do and wherever you go, make sure you have a backup plan.
Or at least be ready to improvise, because a variety of factors – weather, construction, your child’s changeable mood – will test your ability to pivot.
The great thing about the playground at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is that although it’s often in use (either by the school or by day camps in the summer) it comes with a built-in backup plan: the Woburn Avenue Playground, a hidden gem that we visited last summer, and which is connected to the Blessed Sacrament school grounds by way of a secret gate in its northwest corner.
Blessed Sacrament’s playground got a bit of an upgrade in 2025, adding some good climbing options to its already adequate supply of equipment. The spaceship climber, monkey bar course, and colourful senior play structure are all in good shape. The soccer turf is probably next on the school’s list of things to improve; it was pretty beaten up when we visited, but still good enough for our son to get his soccer fix.
As I mentioned in the Woburn Avenue review, the stretch of Yonge just north of Lawrence is really great. It feels much more like a cozy main street than Yonge normally does, and there are plenty of places to grab some food or coffee nearby, not to mention a Mastermind Toys and a very nice public library.
So if you can make it here when it’s not being used by the school or a camp (we went on Good Friday) it’s a fun place to play. But if you can’t get in- Woburn Avenue is a fantastic backup plan.
